Saosin - Saosin

Saosin’s self-titled album Saosin is just amazing. It is by far on my list of best albums of 2006. I’m mad at myself for waiting until now to talk about it though. Amazing vocals and even better music. In my opinion, Saosin is the best Saosin record to date. The opening track It’s Far Better To Learn really starts the album off in a great fashion. The vocal work on the whole album is layered extremely well, it gives each song this amazing depth and texture that I think their previous albums really lacked. The guitars on Voices make Coheed & Cambria jealous.

Dead Poetic - Vises

Dead Poetic’s Vices isn’t a step ahead of New Medicines — nor a step behind though. It’s just not as good an album as NM. I remember being blown away when I listened to NM for th first time. Maybe Vices will take me longer to grow into. Brandon Rike did kill the vocals on In Coma. The only notable thing on the album is the guest vocals/producer action of Chino Moreno of The Deftones.

There are definitely some standout tracks on the new DP disc but, like you said, as a whole it lacks the punch of New Medicines. I sure hope they give the new lineup another chance, though I’ve been sorely disappointed that the band is resting on their laurels by not touring behind the new album. This was suppossed to be their ‘breakout’ album and they haven’t been out to support it.

In this case, no news is bad news.

I totally agree.

Go ahead and comment. I won't make fun of you too much.
