I Am the Patron Saint of Rabbit Trails

Through searching for something, I ended my trail of links at the wikipedia listing of Patron Saints of occupations and activities.

Anyone who has talked with me in person knows my feelings on Wikipedia, but it’s still an interesting listing. My favorites?

  • Ambrose of Milan, the Patron Saint of bee keepers
  • Saint Gummarus, the Patron Saint of lumberjacks
  • Saint Vitus, the Patron Saint of comedians
  • Saint Nicholas of Myra, the Patron Saint of sailors, fishermen, pharmacists, prostitutes, pawnbrokers

Is that the same Saint Nick as our beloved Santa? He seems to be the saint of Et Al … pharmacists and prostitutes - I guess there’s a connection (?)

And since today is Valentines Day, a little possibly true/possibly untrue Wikipedia fact: St. Valentine is the Patron Saint of bee keeping.

Go ahead and comment. I won't make fun of you too much.
