by a professional. My advice: have a professional do your taxes. Yeah, you can do them yourself with less cost. But do the math. I ended up paying half of what I was estimating on my own. So was the $165 I spent on a tax man worth? You know it.

See, I had been having a professional do my taxes for 6 years (all of those self-employed); and I decided this year to try TurboTax, and I couldn’t be more happy. For one, I’m in total control, 2) I was already doing all the same work, answering all the same questions, and providing all the same receipts/paperwork and 3) I still get IRS audit protection. Either way I don’t have to fill out the forms; and with the internet I’m getting all the most recent tax codes. It’s only taken about an hour longer than usual for me to do it, then for someone else — but then again, I’ve been doing it for so long I know all that pretty much needs to be done.
Either way, being self-employed is a hassle but what in life isn’t?

Breathing is a big time hassle … takes so much … time. I do it ALL DAY long. Fraking breathing. Sleeping, well, I’m not too good at that. I don’t get sarcasm; haven’t since about … ‘82.
But “standards compliant” websites (that work in IE) are not a hassle.
Amen. Making a site look good in IE is about the easiest thing I have ever had to do. Microsoft really got it right this time.
