Flickr Has Video Now?!

Flickr?Apparently, Flickr now has video. Am I wrong in thinking that this is tantamount to McDonald’s selling the Whopper?¢‚Äû¬¢? With so many great video sharing sites, why would Flickr bother to water down the great thing they are already providing? I come to Flickr for photos, I don’t want to now see people trying to be the first Star Wars kid on Flickr.

I dont think flickr will ever be a place like youtube or myspace. It’s not designed to be. In particular, its goal is not to “spread the word” about a video, and be video-centric. It’s goal is to simply share it with who you want to, in-line, in a very clean/clear way.

I like the idea because there are many times i’ve been at a party and taken some photos and some video clips which i’d rather all be in-line than post to 2 separate sources and have to link back and forth. Also applies to the kid pics…

I’m on the fence about the auto-play feature though. If i’m looking through photos, it’s great in some scenarios if it starts immediately, annoying in others.

I’m on the fence on whether I like it or not, at all. I’d rather have photos on a photo site.

i’d only go to flickr for video if there were videos of a guy with a rabbit mask dancing to techno music, or of a gorilla rocking out to ATDI. but maybe that’s just me.

I may be able to accommodate you with videos of that type.

Go ahead and comment. I won't make fun of you too much.
